      Exotic Higgs decay

      • Plans
        • Produce non-Higgs background
        • The BDT code is in good progress; it is the prior task at the moment

      ATLAS HGTD

      • Will participate in the wafer test tomorrow
    • 11:30 11:40
      Status 10m
      Speaker: Matthias Tartarin (TDLI, SJTU)

      Today's focus:

      [ssWW]:

      • Focused back on Unfolding studies using the Easyjet framework. Modified easyjet so the truth information are now effectively created and stored.
      • Presentation of current status to the internal group.

      [ZZy]:

      • Group meeting yesterday, members tasks are a little more organised now. Some items to be looked into for next group meeting (mention of a software that merged Easyjet+Fastframes in one ; How to assess the combination studies to make sure it does not take too much efforts away from the 5sigma observation result; and look into CMS Run-2 paper to identify and study differences in strategies).
      • CP task is still opened; ZZU colleagues answered earlier this week: Muon CP convener came back with one project "Maintenance of the FakeBkgTool". ZZU colleagues asked if we were familiar with it, as they do not have experience in Muon CP themselves.

      [VBS_KappaLambda]:

      • Working on restoration of unitarity bounds with the new UFO model. Interesting results, but validation in progress.

      Plans:

      • [ssWW]: Instead of implementing the unfolding in Easyjet, would be better to aim to have the main FastFrames ready for unfolding with the VBSTools n-tuples. The former should come after.
      • [Hyy*]: Plan to focus on the poster for ATLAS Week as a priority. If time allows, then go back into the merged electron algo study.
      • [VBS_KappaLambda]: Detector level studies are still in consideration ; Validating the restoration of unitarity bounds looks more promising at the moment.
      • [ZZy] In addition to topics to search for next group meeting, a direction I can work on solo for now : Event selection.
Naïve plan would be to re-validate every selection against current Run-3 detector, trigger, reconstruction, calibration, and CP recommendations. Is there a typical documentation for this kind of study? Or is it usually done on the go?

      REU: Undergraduate Research Discussions
      • 11:40
        Status (w/ Linjing&Danning) 10m
Speakers: Bingxian Li (SPA, SJTU), Jiacheng Shi (SPA, SJTU), Yuning Chen (Zhiyuan College, SJTU), Zhengyang Qian (SPA, SJTU)
      • 11:50
        Status (w/ Haydar) 10m
Speakers: Hansheng Ye, Mingyu Huang (Univ. of Manchester (GB))

        This week's focus:

-Finish the production and validation of the 500k events ZH, H→ccˉ Z→dilep

-Delivered the presentation with Haidar and Prof Li yesterday with Mingyu

-Overall, the H→ccˉsample has now provided a useful detector-level baseline for validating the current CEPCSW reconstruction and flavour-tagging chain.

-Will conclude the internship this week

        Long term focus:

        -4 fermion background at CEPC

-Will start with two-fermion process e+e−→qqˉ, using the existing official CEPC samples at 240 GeV after Haidar transfered all H→ccˉ reco files.

-The inclusive qqˉ sample is available in: /cefs/data/stdhep/CEPC240/2fermions/E240.Pqq.e0.p0.whizard195

-Each StdHep file contains 20,000 events, so 25 files correspond to 500,000 events.

-The first goal will be to measure how many qqˉq\bar q events survive the Z→ee/μμ selection, since the hard process does not contain a genuine prompt Z→ℓ+ℓ−decay. This will provide the first estimate of the rejection power of the current preselection against a realistic non-Higgs background.
