Abstract: 
The Weakly Interacting Massive Particle (WIMP) paradigm has been a leading candidate for explaining dark matter (DM) for decades. However, recent experimental results from direct detection experiments and colliders have challenged the WIMP paradigm. In this review, we first summarize the basics of the WIMP model and its connection to colliders. We then discuss the current experimental constraints on the WIMP parameter space and the theoretical efforts to reconcile the null results. We also explore the broader landscape of thermal DM candidates beyond the WIMP paradigm, including models with non-minimal dark sectors and alternative freeze-out mechanisms. Our review provides a comprehensive perspective on the current status and future prospects of the DM-collider connection.

Resume:
Jia Liu is a researcher at the School of Physics of Peking University and a Young Scholar of the Boya Program. He received his undergraduate degree from Tsinghua University, his master's degree from Peking University, and his doctoral degree from New York University. After that, he conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Mainz in Germany and the University of Chicago. He is engaged in theoretical research in particle physics, with research directions including high-energy phenomenology and particle astrophysics.
