Abstract

In this talk, I will motivate the need for efficient tools in analyzing analytic structures of Feynman integrals in the study of scattering amplitudes. Then I will describe a geometric approach that may potentially play this role, which we have been developing in recent years. This approach is based on the Feynman parameter representations of Feynman integrals, and is realized by mapping integrands and contours of an integral to geometric objects in certain projective space and identifying singularities of the integral to projective relations among these objects. I will illustrate this method with a simple toy model and examples at one loop, and will comment on generalizations to higher-loop integrals.

Biography:

Ellis Ye Yuan (袁野) is a tenure-track assistant professor at Zhejiang University. He obtained his bachelor's degree in Nanjing University in 2011 and his Ph.D. in Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics in 2015. From 2015 to 2018 he worked as a postdoctoral member at the Institute for Advanced Study, Princeton, and he joined Zhejiang University in 2018. His main research interests focus on investigating properties of various QFT or quantum gravity models as well as generic particle dynamics, through analytic studies of observables like scattering amplitudes, correlation functions, etc.
