Description
Abstract

According to the no-hair theorem, a rotating black hole with no electric charge is fully described by the Kerr metric. Extraction of energy from a Kerr black hole can produce significant energy outflows which are believed to account for some kinds of high-energy astrophysical processes, such as relativistic jets powered by black holes hosted in active galactic nuclei, gamma-ray bursts, and microquasars. Recently, magnetic reconnection in the ergosphere of a Kerr black hole shows to be an efficient way of extracting energy. However, the Kerr metric might not be the unique spacetime accounting for rotating black holes in the case of strong gravity. With this motivation, a deformed Kerr-like metric with a deformed parameter is suitable to describe a rotating non-Kerr black hole. Thus, energy extraction via magnetic reconnection in the ergosphere of a rotating non-Kerr black hole may have distinctive features compared with the Kerr case.

In this talk, from the theoretical point of view, I will show the process of magnetic reconnection in the ergosphere of a rotating non-Kerr black hole and features of energy extraction resulting from such process.
