Periodic Table of the Ordinary and Supersymmetric Sachdev-Ye-Kitaev Models

Abstract

Sachdev-Ye-Kitaev (SYK) model has recently attracted a lot of attention from both the high energy and condensed matter communities due to its novel properties, especially maximal quantum chaotic behaviors. In this talk, I will present a unified minimal scheme to classify quantum chaos in the Sachdev-Ye-Kitaev (SYK) and supersymmetric (SUSY) SYK models and also work out the structure of the energy levels in one periodic table. The SYK with even q-body or SUSY SYK with odd q-body interaction, with N even or odd number of sites, are put on an equal footing in the minimal Hilbert space; N (mod 8), q (mod 4) double Bott periodicity, and a reflection condition are identified. Exact diagonalizations are performed to study both the bulk energy level statistics and hard-edge behaviors. Excellent agreements between the numerical results and the symmetry classifications are demonstrated. A quantum analog of Kolmogorov-Arnold-Moser theorem in the hybrid Sachdev-Ye-Kitaev models is also discussed.

Biography

Dr. Fadi Sun acquired his Ph.D. in theoretical physics from Institute of Physics Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2016, and then acquired his Ph.D. in engineering physics from Mississippi State University in 2020. His research interests focus on (topological) quantum phases/phase transitions in strongly correlated systems, quantum chaos and Sachdev-Ye-Kitaev related physics.
