ng which neutral hydrogen in the early universe was ionized\, marks the un
iverse’s last major phase transition. Understanding this period is a key
frontier in modern astrophysics\, offering crucial insights into the hist
ory of cosmic structure formation. Fundamental questions about reionizatio
n remain: When and how did reionization occur? What were the primary sourc
es (massive stars in galaxies or active galactic nuclei) driving reionizat
ion? In this talk\, I will present my research on characterizing the epoch
of reionization through spectroscopic observations of galaxies in this er
a\, using large ground-based telescopes and the James Webb Space Telescope
. I will also provide a brief overview of my future research plans. Bio:
Mengtao Tang (唐梦涛) is currently a JWST Arizona/Steward Postdoc in Ea
rly galaxies and Reionization (JASPER) scholar at Steward Observatory\, th
e University of Arizona. Mengtao’s work focuses on utilizing JWST and la
rge ground-based telescopes to investigate the physical properties of gala
xies in the early universe and the constraints these galaxies impose on th
e process of cosmic reionization. Mengtao received his Ph.D. in Astronomy
& Astrophysics from the University of Arizona in 2020\, and became a postd
octoral researcher at University College London from 2020 to 2022. \n\nht
