Description

Abstract: K-40 is a familiar radioactive source we experience in every day and widely used in experiments. However, the decay scheme of K-40 is not fully understood yet. The rare decay branch of K-40 may contribute to the background of dark matter direct detection experiments, especially NaI crystal experiments such as DAMA. I will talk about the decay, its impact, and possible ways to map out the full decay scheme.
