DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Matt Zepf (Friedrich Schiller University Jena)\n\nHo
st: Prof. Jie Zhang (张杰) Abstract:Ultrafast Lasers are capable of cr
eating extreme conditions. By controlling plasmas precisely the conditions
for a new class of accelerators and photon sources with unprecedented par
ameters is possible. We highlight developments and future potential of the
se sources.Bio:Prof. Matt Zepf\, is a professor at the Friedrich Schiller
University Jena and a director of the Helmholtz Institute Jena. He receive
d his Ph.D. from University of Oxford. Prior to join the University of Jen
a\, he conducted postdoctoral research at Imperial College\, was EPSRC Adv
anced Research Fellow and Professor at Queen’s University Belfast (since
2001). He has made notable achievements across the areas of high field ph
ysics and particle acceleration. His achievements includes ROM Harmonics\,
inventor of Cone Ignition and first observation of high energy protons fr
om relativistic plasmas. He received Wolfson Merit Award of Royal Society
and a member of Royal Irish Academy.\n\nhttps://indico-tdli.sjtu.edu.cn/ev
