      Today's focus:

      [ssWW]:

      • Modified our easyjet framework based on the discussion with John;
      • Shared the Ntuples to John for framework harmolization study;

      [Hyy*]:

      • Updated the Run 3 workspace with the application of Daning's new background function results;
        • The results is: mu = 1.00 +- (-0.40, 0.44)[tot.] = 1.00 +- (-0.39, 0.40)[stat.] +- (-0.10, 0.18)[syst.]
        • The stat. unc has decreased a lot, for the syst. unc still keeps simlar with previous results;

      Plans:

      [ssWW]:

      • Compare the renormalization and sample selections between Rel 21 (Sherpa 2.2.2) and Rel 22 to see if there are any differences;

      Today's focus:

      DarkSHINE:

      • v1.6 analysis
        • Preliminarily completed the BDT analysis of the new samples and obtained the sensitivity results.
      • ECAL prototype
        • The design of the front-end board is essentially complete, but the preamplifier circuit has changed compared with the previous version, so some circuit simulations are needed.

      PhD thesis:

      • To quantify the impact of the resolution on S/B, I analyzed the v1.0 dataset and optimized the ECAL cut separately for each mass point. The resolution impact is like following

      • Resolution scanning:  1 MeV mass point as an example
        • On the best cut value(0.5 GeV), the resolution should be better than: 0.1/√E /oplus 0.1 /oplus 0.05/E

      Plan:

      • DarkSHINE: Refine the optical simulation model of single crystal bar. And test its response at different contitions, like paticles incident at different positions and with different energies.
      • Prapare slides for the coming CEPC international workshop

      Exotic Higgs decay analysis @ CEPC

      • It is difficult for the ParT model to achieve high tagging efficiency for 4b final state
      • We will switch to the Foundation Model – discussing with Yulei
      • Continue to produce the background samples

      DarkSHINE projects

      • Discussed about reviewing the paper, we need to check the previous list and assign group reading for each chapter
      •  The scintillator has arrived to TDLI, and will perform cosmic tests with Chunxiang this Friday
      • The sterile neutrino model for two dark fermions needs to be validated – we may probably have to discuss with Yifan

      Today's focus:

      [new] [ZZy ]: w/ Prof. Li and Linjing

      • Run-2 Analysis and its corresponding internal note out: 4.4sigma evidence already.
      • Meeting to organise TDLI effort for the Run-3 incoming analysis ;
      • Read INT notes (Hyy* in particular): found software to transform DAODs -> (M)xAODs analysis ready n-tuples : "AnalysisBase".

      [Hyy*]:

      • Still investigating the fakes, with a combination of CR templates from: old implementation, legacy note only, combination of both:
        Still having an issue with distribution shape (normalisation issue not the most important atm)
      • (Difference between old implementation and new one [from AC on Mattermost])
      • In the legacy note the fakes are constructed with a method which uses arbitrary multiplicative constant k to substrat prompt lly CR contribution from data CR contribution. Choice of k=1.5 still unclear. I also tried working with version h001 of the samples instead of h004 to investigate if it was version related: Apparently no.

      Plans:

      • [ZZy]: Should we investigate the "AnalysisBase" software [Hyy*] to see if it would fit our goals? And/or directly ask the ZZy analysis which tools they used to be consistent. In any case we should start checking the list of Run-3 available DAOD and chose the proper tags coherently with legacy choices (same idea for data).
      • [ssWW]: Reweighting on standby for now. Issue in the WZ n-tuples generation with easyjet prob. needs to be investigated first.
        + There is an article I need to read (provided by a member of the group) that could help us go beyong the legacy reweighting method.
      • [Hyy*]: 3 items I can maybe discuss with the group:
        • A lot of data files are empty (could explain issue with population?);
        • Choice of k-factor, I have ideas to suggest but maybe I am very far from its meaning;
        • Choice of CR templates (are they the correct one? If yes what else could be changed in my current implementation to produce the desired outcome?).
      • [Kappa_VBS] Will follow Qibing advice to reproduce what has been done, and then start implementing the new ideas right away whenever possible. Hopefully this week if time allows.

        Weekly Summary

        • Heavy Neutral Leptons
          This week, I mainly worked on the thesis-related writing for my graduation project.
          During this process, I sorted out the model assumptions, the calculation flow, and the general logic of the DS and LEP study.
          So I do not have major new numerical results this week, but the current work is now more organized and clearer.
        • Detector Simulation
          This week, I looked into the format of the lookup table used in the detector simulation.
          This helps me understand how to connect the later simulation work with the current analysis framework.

        Next Step
        Continue the analytical check for the LEP setup and then move on to detector simulation.

        STCF:

        • This week I have done many foundamental work,such as adjusting the position of the beam filed sub_detectors to reconstruct the relative positions of the sub_detectors in the real beam simulation, and running the simulation workflow for the beam test successfully etc.
        • Next week I plan to run electrons at different energies to obtain the energy, position, and time resolution curves. After I finish the work next week,I will make complete slides to show what I have done.
