      • Continue the cross-section calculations for the remaining signal processes.
      • Double-check the current Run-3 sample selection and make sure the selected samples are the most accurate available ones. Compare the Run-2 and Run-3 MCJobOptions for each sample, since they provide more detailed information about the sample properties, such as the process definition, generator setup, decay channel, and filters/cuts.
      • Document the differences between Run-2 and Run-3 samples, and decide whether the current Run-3 samples can still be used as the best available candidates.

      Today's focus:

      [STCF EMC]:

      • Through optical simulations, I studied how different intrinsic crystal properties affect the timing resolution. I found that:
        • The sensor coverage area and the crystal size are the dominant factors limiting the current detector’s timing resolution, followed by the scintillation decay time; the wavelength shifter has the smallest impact.
        • Moreover, the relative contributions from the sensor area and the crystal size increase with energy.

      • I studied the timing response of CsI crystals to different types of particles(γ/n/e/μ), as timing information can be used for particle identification. For calorimeters, the most important application is neutral (n/γ) discrimination. I provided a preliminary estimate of the timing-resolution requirement for (n/γ) separation: at 100 MeV, to achieve efficient (n/γ) discrimination using only the EMC, the timing resolution should reach about 300 ps.
      • In the experiment, I used a short-pass optical filter to remove slow photons while retaining fast photons. The measured timing resolution for MIPs (~30 MeV) can reach 0.59 ns; in comparison, the timing resolution without the filter is 1.34 ns. A great progress.

      [DarkSHINE ECAL simulation]:

      • Using the refactored simulation code, I studied the detector performance under different conditions, including effective light yield, energy threshold, beam spot size, detector dimensions, and so on. This work will also be included as supplementary material in my PhD dissertation.

      Plans:

      • [STCF EMC] : Study the uniformity of the experimentally measured timing resolution for particles incident at different positions.
    • 11:15 11:25
      Status 10m
Speaker: Haidar Mas'ud Alfanda (TDLI, SJTU)

      DarkSHINE

      • Completed the uniformity test for the 75 cm long scintillator
      • The light collection non-uniformity is ~14%. The value agrees with the LCNU for 35 cm long scintillator
      • Continue to coordinate the DarkSHINE CDR editing and push toward the final version
      • Next
        • Try the test with a different SiPM as a cross check
        • Evaluate the effect of change in temperature on the light output
        • Perform the four-channel test

      ATLAS HGTD

      • Participated in the wafer test last weekend
      • Will take another shift this weekend as well

      Exotic Higgs decay

      • This week Yulei is coming to TDLI, we will discuss with him about the Eve-net

    • 11:25 11:35
      Status 10m
      Speaker: Matthias Tartarin (TDLI, SJTU)

      Today's focus:

      [Hyy*]:

      • Specific tasks related to the analysis:
        • Fake templates: All of the plots have been produced to their final form, using the latest fake fractions provided by Danning.
        • Applied reweighting fit procedure on the results for the pre-background fit. Produced plots to compare the reweighted fit from lly only, to the total MC (i.e. {lly + fake photon + fake lepton} total yield) : the fit is actually quite good (and mostly linear).
        • Shared the fit parameters back to Danning, to update the background fit with the inclusion of the fakes through this reweighting.
      • Analysis status: Unbinding of the data will be made in the near future, thanks to the advancement in the analysis by the team members.

      [ssWW]:

      • WZ_CR :
        • Reweighting of the WZ_QCD sample has been implemented in FF. This closes our work on this subject.
        • We have informed the group yesterday. Future discussions might be engaged to quantify the actual effects of this reweighting  (which has not a very important effect) and how/if to include it in the analysis.

      [ZZy]:

      • Official preparation meeting with EWK conveners has been set-up. Our slides are already ready, and very slightly modified. We should have everything ready by then.

      [HIGP derivation]:

      • Began to work on JIRA tickets and tasks on my own. Things are going smoothly for now.

      Plans:

      • No clear tasks. I am up-to-date on the different items, and will continue in that direction.
      • [VBS kappa_lambda] item has been put to the side for now, but any incoming free time will be used there.
