Abstract:
The 125 GeV Higgs discovery completed the Standard Model, yet no new particles have appeared since. Still, multi-lepton anomalies at the LHC hint at another scalar around 150 GeV, decaying mainly to W bosons but not Z bosons—suggesting a neutral triplet. A reanalysis of ATLAS Run-2 diphoton data shows a 4σ excess near 152 GeV with a branching fraction near 0.7%. We find that this fits naturally within a simple Higgs-sector extension, namely the real Higgs triplet model. If confirmed, it would mark the first strong sign of new physics at the LHC.

Dr. Saiyad Ashanujjaman is a postdoctoral researcher in Theoretical Particle Physics at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Germany. He completed his Ph.D. at the Institute of Physics, Bhubaneswar, India. He then spent a year as a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of High Energy Physics in Beijing before moving to KIT. His research focuses on collider signatures of seesaw models of neutrino mass generation, as well as extended Higgs sectors and possible hints of new Higgs bosons at the LHC.
