DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Rafael Aoude (DESY)\n\nAbstract:In recent years\, qu
antum field theory (QFT)-inspired descriptions of the two-body problem in
gravity have advanced the state of the art in gravitational-wave physics c
omputation. In this talk\, I will revisit some of the fundamentals of the
on-shell scattering amplitude programme for binary black holes\, with a pa
rticular focus on spinning effects. I will describe black hole scattering
amplitudes using the Post-Minkowskian expansion within a heavy-particle ef
fective field theory. Finally\, I will demonstrate how to incorporate non-
 conservative effects\, such as absorption\, using a QFT description.Speake
r Bio:Dr. Rafael Aoude obtained his PhD at the University of Mainz\, worki
ng on EFTs for colliders and scattering amplitudes. He then moved to Belgi
um for a postdoctoral position at UCLouvain\, followed by another postdoc
at the University of Edinburgh. Currently\, he is a Junior Staff at DESY\,
working on EFTs\, collider phenomenology\, and gravitational waves.Altern
