Abstract:

ZWICKY discovered dark matter in the 1930s, following a gravitational inconsistency in cosmic observations within known physics. In between there are several observations within the solar system, dubbed local, which remain unexplained. The question is whether the origin of such observations is due to dark matter. We argue this seems to be the case. The only viable common scenario for a variety of observations is based on occasionally strong focusing of DM, provided DM streams exist. This assumption has been confirmed theoretically - cosmologically independently (2011) for the widely discussed DM candidates of axions and WIMPs. A number of mysterious / anomalous observations in our vicinity fit-in this reasoning, strengthening the streaming dark matter scenario. A highly cross-disciplinary approach of the otherwise DM mystery will be presented. A recent society relevant spin-off is the prediction of huge Earthquakes somewhere in the whole surface of the Earth using the behaviour of the global ionospheric plasma provided the calibration of the GPS network along with the global recording of the Earthquakes. Of note, parasitically, both observables are measured continuously. I will also present axion-helioscopes and their perspectives.

Speaker Bio:

Prof. Konstantin Zioutas studied nuclear physics at the University of Bonn, Germany, where he received his Ph.D. in 1975. Since 1976, he has been affiliated with CERN as a visitor, fellow, research associate, and corresponding fellow. From 1999 to 2027, he has served as Spokesperson of the CAST experiment at CERN, from its initial concept in Argentina in 1997. His research spans astroparticle physics, biomedicine, and geophysics (atmosphere and underground). His current activities focus on society-relevant research, including the prediction of large earthquakes worldwide in time and location, as well as in vitro investigations aimed at detecting planetary dependencies, which have already been observed in vivo.
