DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Patrick Foldenauer (Instituto de Física Teórica (I
FT UAM-CSIC)\, Madrid)\n\nAbstract:Direct detection experiments were origi
nally designed to search for particle dark matter through its scattering w
ith detector targets. As their exposure increases and energy thresholds de
crease\, they are also becoming sensitive to solar neutrino signals. The s
ame experiments that search for dark matter are therefore turning into nov
el neutrino observatories. In this talk\, I will review the emerging role o
f direct detection experiments in neutrino physics. I will discuss recent
developments in the observation of solar neutrinos through coherent elasti
 c neutrino-nucleus scattering and elastic neutrino-electron scattering\, a
nd show how these measurements can be used to probe neutrino properties wi
thin and beyond the Standard Model. I will then discuss how light vector m
ediators provide a natural connection between neutrino new physics and dar
k matter\, allowing direct detection experiments to simultaneously probe b
oth sectors.Speaker Bio:Dr. Patrick Foldenauer is a theoretical particle p
hysicist working on dark matter\, neutrinos\, and light new particles. He
obtained his PhD from Heidelberg University in 2019 and was a postdoctoral
fellow at the Institute for Particle Physics Phenomenology (IPPP) at Durh
am University. His research combines collider\, astroparticle\, and direct
-detection approaches to probe physics beyond the Standard Model. He is cu
rrently a "la Caixa" Junior Leader Fellow and leads a research group on ne
utrinos and dark sectors at the Instituto de Física Teórica (IFT UAM-CSI
 C) in Madrid.Alternative online link: https://meeting.tencent.com/dm/PVOw
