rations\n\n\n\n \nRegistration:\nThe registration form will be opened soo
 n.\n \nAbout the Linux Mini-Workshop series:\n你是否遇到过这样的
Windows
Windo
 ws。
Linux
\nHave you ever b
een in the middle of writing a paper when your system forces a restart for
updates\, and all your unsaved changes are lost? Or turned on your comput
er only to be greeted by pop-up ads? Or had your machine slow to a crawl o
r even freeze when running a moderately demanding application? These pain
points that Windows users have grown accustomed to are virtually nonexiste
nt on Linux. Linux is stable\, ad-free\, free from forced updates\, and ne
arly immune to viruses. It runs efficiently with low resource usage\, and
far surpasses Windows in security and customizability. More importantly\,
almost everything you do on a daily basis with Windows—writing documents
\, creating presentations\, working with spreadsheets\, sending and receiv
ing emails\, browsing the web\, and managing files—can be done just as w
ell\, if not better\, on Linux. Most common software either has a native L
 inux version or a high-quality open-source alternative.\nFor researchers\,
Linux is the go-to platform for connecting to supercomputers\, running co
mputational tasks\, and using a wide range of scientific computing tools.
The Tsung-Dao Lee Institute (TDLI) is launching this Linux Mini-Workshop s
eries. Starting from scratch with no prior experience required\, we aim to
help everyone make a smooth transition from Windows to Linux.\nThe first
session will focus on getting started—installation\, the desktop environ
ment\, and commonly used software. The second and third sessions will intr
oduce you to essential command-line operations. This series is not limited
to three sessions\; additional topics will be offered based on your feedb
 ack and needs.\n\nhttps://indico-tdli.sjtu.edu.cn/event/5266/
