 he beta-delayed fission of very heavy and extremely neutron-rich nuclides 
 is believed to play an important role in the so-called ‘fission terminat
 ion’ of the astrophysical r-process\, together with spontaneous and neut
 ron-induced fission. However\, its properties are very difficult for inves
 tigations\, because of the experimental problems to reach relevant regions
  of nuclei. Due to this\, only about 25 cases of the Electron Capture Dela
 yed Fission (ECDF)\, being a sub-type of beta-delayed fission\, are known 
 so far\, in the neutron-deficient nuclides [1].The talk will introduce the
  general concepts of beta-delayed fission\, and will present an overview o
 f results from recent ECDF experiments at several facilities. A special em
 phasis will be given to the two representative experiments. First\, an ISO
 DLDE study of ECDF of 180Tl (Z=81)\, in which a new island of asymmetric f
 ission was discovered [2]. The 2nd experiment will concern the ECDF of th
 e very neutron-deficient isotope 234Bk (Z=95)\, performed at the gas-fille
 d recoil separator SHANS2 at the Institute for Modern Physics\, IMP-Lanzho
 u\, China.  The isotope 234Bk was produced in the fusion-evaporation reac
 tion 40Ar+197Au->237Bk*->234Bk+3n. The highest ECDF probabilities\, PECDF(
 234Bk)=0.57(11) and PECDF(230Am)=0.34(9)\, among all beta- or EC-delayed f
 ission cases known so far are reported\, showing the tendency of approachi
 ng the expected saturation towards PECDF=1 [4]. The comparison of the PECD
 F systematics with two theoretical fission models shows significant discre
 pancies in respect of corresponding fission barrier values. The important
  role of beta-decay strength function and the comparison of ECDF systemati
 cs in the lead and heavy actinides will be presented.The need for a theore
 tical framework that can provide realistic beta-delayed fission probabilit
 ies for astrophysical predictions will be strongly underlined.\nBiography:
 \nProf. Andrei Andreyev graduated from Moscow State University (Russia). W
 orked for 10 years in Dubna\, reactions with heavy ions\, heavy elements/f
 ission\, got a PhD in 1998 (synthesis of 11 new isotopes of U\,Np\,Pu). Th
 en had a number of research/postdoc positions in KU Leuven (Belgium\, lase
 r/decay spectroscopy)\, GSI (a co-author of discovery of Z=110\,111 new el
 ements in 1994)\, University of Liverpool (UK)\, TRIUMF (Vancouver\, Canad
 a). Finally - a full professor in the UK\, from 2009 (first\, in Scotland\
 , and since 2012 - in the University of York\, until now).Areas of interes
