Abstract:

We propose a new theoretical framework to investigate the properties of baryonic matter, quark matter, and their mixed phases based on an extended Nambu-Jona-Lasinio (eNJL) model, where the Dirac sea, the spontaneous chiral symmetry breaking, and the quark degrees of freedom are considered by extending the SU(3) NJL model and treating baryons as clusters of quarks. The eNJL model can then be readily adopted to examine the matter states ranging from baryonic matter to quark matter in a unified manner, which will be illustrated in this talk.

Biography:

I received my Bachelor’s degree from Zhejiang University of Technology in 2008, my Master’s degree from Beijing University of Technology in 2011, and my Ph.D. from the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2014. From 2014 to 2016, I was a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Theoretical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences; from 2016 to 2022, I worked at Ningbo Institute of Technology, Zhejiang University; and since 2022, I have been working at Yangzhou University. My research mainly focuses on quark matter, baryonic matter, and quark-hadron mixed phase. Using various theoretical tools, I have conducted extensive studies on exotic objects such as compact stars, quark nuggets, and hypernuclei, and have gained some understanding on various inhomogeneous structures of ultra dense matter and quark-vacuum/hadron interface effects.
