Description

Abstract

With the discovery of the Higgs boson at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC), the particle spectrum of the Standard Model (SM) is complete. The next target at the energy frontier will be to study the Higgs properties and to search for the next scale beyond the SM. Along this line, measuring the couplings of the Higgs boson to the other elementary particles in the SM is extremely important. So far, the couplings of Higgs to the electroweak vector bosons (W± and Z) and the third generation fermions (t, b, and τ) are measured to be consistent with the SM predictions and the next task is to determine the Yukawa couplings of the Higgs to the second generation fermions. I will talk about some new suggestions to measure the charm quark Yukawa and the muon Yukawa, respectively.

Biography:

Dr. Yang Ma received his Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh in 2022.  He is now a postdoctoral fellow at Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare (INFN, Bologna).  His research interest is the theory of particle physics, including quantum chromodynamics, Higgs physics, electroweak physics, and phenomenology at the high-energy collider.
