Pattern of global spin alignment of ϕ(1020) and K∗0 (892) mesons in heavy-ion collisions

Abstract:

5 In non-central heavy-ion collisions (HIC), the large initial angular momentum can induce 6 a non-vanishing polarization for hadrons with non-zero spin. The global spin alignment of vector mesons, quantified by the 00th 7 element of spin density matrix (ρ00), can offer 8 information on the spin-orbit interactions of the QCD medium. Surprisingly large signal 9 of vector meson ρ00 compared to hyperon spin polarization poses challenges to the conventional theoretical understanding of polarization in HIC. Observations[Nature 614,244(2023)] 10 11 from RHIC Beam Energy Scan (BES) of large deviations of ρ00 from 1/3 for ϕ(1020) mesons 12 can only be explained by introducing the vector meson strong force fields. In this talk, we will review the details on global spin alignment of ϕ(1020) and K∗ 13 (892) 14 using high statistics BES data of Au+Au collisions at RHIC and discuss its physics impli15 cation.

Biography:

陈金辉:复旦大学研究员,博士生导师,国家杰出青年科学基金获得者、国家重点研发计划项目负责人。2003年在中科院上海应用物理研究所马余刚研究员指导下攻读博士学位,2008年毕业后留所工作,2010年晋升副研究员,2013年破格晋升研究员,2018年调动到复旦大学工作。

    长期从事实验核物理的基础研究,探索宇宙早期物质形态,在反物质原子核实验探测和夸克物质性质测量上取得了一系列成果。包括发现了反物质超核,并实现其质量和分离能的精确测量;完成了反物质原子核实验研究进展的长篇综述,主要涵盖了反物质间相互作用力的首次测量、反氦4发现;完成了矢量介子整体极化的实验测量等;成果曾两次入选年度“中国科学十大进展”。主持或完成国家自然科学基金等项目10余项,以通讯作者/主要作者在国际学术期刊包ScienceNatureNature PhysicsPhysical Review LettersPhysics Reports上发表学术论文近30篇。
