New physics searches with low-energy neutrinos

Abstract:
We develop a scintillation crystal detector of 300 kg CsI(Na), called CICENNS, in order to study unexplored neutrino wave properties by the coherent elastic neutrino-nucleus scattering (CEvNS). A sufficient CEvNS event rate is expected using ~30 MeV neutrinos from pion and muon decays at rest in the China Spallation Neutron Source and will allow a precise measurement of the coherent cross section and efficient searches for the new physics signatures beyond the Standard Model. The current status of the detector construction and expected physics sensitivities will be presented in this talk. On the other hand, we have been taking data in searching for sterile neutrino oscillation from muon antineutrinos produced by muon decays at rest at J-PARC, since 2021. We will also present the status of the sterile neutrino search as well as the recent observation of monoenergetic neutrinos at 236 MeV, coming from kaon decays at rest, with the JSNS2 experiment.
