Description
Abstract

The long-standing discrepancy between the Standard Model prediction and the experimental measurement of the muon anomalous magnetic moment provides a tantalizing hint of new physics. The Standard Model prediction was significantly improved and various extensions were proposed to explain the discrepancy. A key ingredient to the comparison remains an independent and more precise measurement. The Fermilab Muon g-2 experiment aims to improve the experimental precision by a factor of four and has started physics data taking since 2018. In this seminar, we will present the highly anticipated first result that pushes the measurement into unprecedented precision, and report on the current status of the experiment.
