Abstract: 

Flavor symmetry and other ideas beyond the standard model may be achieved in a renormalizable theory using the dark sector while keeping only the one SM Higgs doublet.

Brief bio: 

1966 BS Caltech,  1970 PhD UC Irvine,  1977-87 faculty U Hawaii,   1987-2014 faculty UC Riverside,  2012-18 fellow HKUST, 2014-present emeritus.

1973: first to calculate K_L to gamma gamma to predict charm quark mass,

1978: first to calculate e+ e- to gamma nu nu(bar) to find number of fermion families, 

2001: first to use A_4 to describe neutrino mixing, 

2006: first to popularize the scotogenic mechanism of neutrino masses.
