Abstract:

The Large High Altitude Air Shower Observatory (LHAASO) has achieved world-leading detection sensitivity through its high-altitude location and unique detector design. It has discovered a considerable number of ultra-high-energy gamma-ray sources, leading to significant scientific discoveries. From a personal perspective, this presentation will outline the journey of LHAASO—from its initial proposal and conceptual design to detector R&D and the scientific achievements it has attained.

Biography

Professor Huihai He was the Deputy Manager and Chief Engineer of the Large High Altitude Air Shower Observatory (LHAASO) project. He is the Chief Engineer for the Scientific Operation of LHAASO. Since 1990, he has been a staff member at the Institute of High Energy Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, engaged in research on gamma-ray astronomy and cosmic ray experiments.
