Here is the information about Prof. Hansson’s lectures:

Abstract: Prof. Hansson will give a general introduction to QFT anomalies with a minimum of technicalities, and then to illustrate their importance with a few examples from modern condensed matter physics.

Outline:

1. Introduction

• What are QFT anomalies?

• Why should I care about them?

• When do anomalies occur?

• How do I calculate them

o Perturbation theory

o The infinite hotel

o Path integrals – the Fujikawa method

2. Covariant and consistent anomalies

• What is it?

• Application to quantum spin Hall effect

• Application to Weyl semimetals

3. Global anomalies

• What are they?

• Application to topological insulators

• Application to topological superconductors
