      • Discussed the current progress of Yuning’s undergraduate innovation project. Helped resolve the sample production issue, enabling the project to proceed to full simulation and fitting studies.
      • As the remaining tutorial work given by Danning is expected to be completed soon, it would be useful to discuss the next-stage tasks and follow-up plan

      ZZy

      • Supplemented the remaining MC sample list needed for the current Run 3 analysis.
      • Continued working on the ZZγ signal process cross-section calculation using Sherpa 2.2.5. So far, I have completed the 0-jet@NLO setup. The next step is to merge the 1–3 jet samples at LO with the 0-jet NLO sample.
      • Plan to discuss the current status and next steps after the kickoff meeting.

      • [STCF EMC]:  I found that the fast photons in the detector usually have shorter wavelengths, so I thought we could use an optical filter to remove the longer-wavelength photons to improve the timing resolution, and I am currently trying this approach.
      • [PhD thesis]: I refactored some of the simulation code to prepare for adding more plots in my thesis next

      Today's focus: 


      [HIGP Derivation]:

      • Ready to take over Qiuping, after review of the tasks and responsibilities demanded over the past days.
         

      [Hyy*]:

      • Job done on the fake CR (and the plots associated) have been validated by the group. Next step to make a linear fit of the {lly only} yield to the total {lly+ fake CR} yield has also been done and shared privately to the AC who suggested it.

      Plot of the linear fit between the ratio of {lly only}/{lly+ fake CR}  to effectively reweight the distributions which would be later used for background fit study (performed by other members of the analysis). This plot is only for one category out of 9 (low pt mumu).

      • Once I have the updated Run-3 values on the fake fractions (and k-factor?) from Danning, I will produce the updated fake plots (and updated linear fits parameters).
         

      [ssWW]:

      • WZ CR reweighting: Implementation of the reweighting inside FF rather straightforward. Possible modification for the implementation (2 files only, ~20 lines total) have been shared with Baihong.
      • dim-8 EFT: Strategy from legacy is clear. We can start implementing it following the same set-up that Run-3 dim-6 shared few weeks ago. Waiting to get a real closure on WZ CR reweighting first?

      [VBS Kappa_Lambda]:

      • Implementation @LO reproduced using MadGraph, and assessed the work needed for the @NLO picture.

       

       


      Plans: 

      • [HIGP Derivation] Last item to cross of the list is to attend the weekly-meeting on Wednesday. 
      • [VBS Kappa_Lambda] Next step would be to implement a batch submission for MadGraph jobs to reproduce QiBing cross sections results wrt to the updated mass of the Higgs.
      • [ssWW;Hyy*;ZZy] Continue working on the on-going tasks, and strengthen our current results.
