Abstract:Precision tests of the electroweak sector of the Standard Model provide powerful indirect probes of physics beyond the Standard Model.
Fully exploiting the precision of present and future experiments requires the residual theoretical uncertainty, including that associated with uncalculated higher-order corrections, to remain well below the projected experimental uncertainty.
In this talk, I will present recent progress in precision calculations in two complementary energy regimes. At low energies, I will discuss the NNLO electroweak corrections to parity-violating electron scattering relevant to MOLLER at JLab and P2 at MESA in Mainz. At the Z pole, I will discuss precision predictions for (e^+e^- \to f\bar f) at future lepton colliders such as FCC-ee and CEPC, including the separation of resonant and nonresonant contributions in the pole scheme and the incorporation of dimension-six SMEFT effects. I will highlight the main theoretical challenges and the impact of these improvements on the sensitivity of the experiments to physics beyond the Standard Model.
