Abstract:

Although conformal symmetry is broken by quantum corrections in QCD, it can be exploited by embedding the four-dimensional theory in a suitably tuned non-integer spacetime dimension, d=4−2ϵ,where conformal symmetry is restored at the Wilson–Fisher critical point. This observation has led to powerful new methods for tackling problems of considerable computational complexity. In this talk, I will introduce the key ideas behind this approach and discuss selected applications, including renormalization group equations for off-forward processes, higher-twist corrections to deeply virtual Compton scattering (DVCS), heavy-quark physics, and the factorization of rapidity divergences.

Biography:

Prof. Vladimir Braun is a theoretical physicist at the University of Regensburg, Germany. His research interests include quantum chromodynamics (QCD), hadron structure, hard exclusive processes, and perturbative and nonperturbative aspects of strong interactions. He has authored more than 180 papers, which have received over 25,000 citations。
He has made pioneering contributions to the theoretical understanding of hadron structure and QCD dynamics. He developed fundamental methods for the renormalization and evolution of gauge-invariant light-ray operators and uncovered a remarkable connection between QCD evolution equations and integrable quantum spin chains. He has made seminal contributions to the theory of hadron light-cone distribution amplitudes, particularly their conformal expansion and higher-twist structure, as well as to the development of light-cone sum rules for hadronic form factors. His work on renormalons has deepened our understanding of the interplay between perturbative and nonperturbative QCD. More recently, he has made important contributions to precision calculations for deeply virtual Compton scattering and to the theoretical development of quasi- and pseudo-parton distributions relevant to lattice QCD.
