Description

Abstract:

The BESIII experiment at the Beijing Electron Positron Collider has accumulated the world's largest samples of $e^+e^-$ collisions in the tau-charm region. Based on the samples taken near mass threshold of charmed hadrons and unique technique of quantum correlation, the charmed hadron decays can be precisely studied under a clean background. The LHCb experiment at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC)records world-largest sample of charmed hadrons. Its single-arm spectrometer detector system equips with excellent vertex resolution and momentum resolutions, which guarantees world-leading precision measurements in charm sector. In this talk, I will present the recent progress on charm physics in the two experiments. In addition, some future prospects on super tau-charm factory will be discussed, beside the current running experiments.

About the speaker:

Xiao-Rui LYU (吕晓睿):Professor of Physics in University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS). He graduated from Peking University with master degree and obtained the PhD title in Tokyo Institute of Technology in 2008. His research interest lies in the experimental particle physics based on large-scale scientific facility. That is to understand the origin of the world by the experimental probe to the fundamental structure and their interactions of particles. Currently, He is involved in the BESIII project in BEPCII in China, and the LHCb project in the LHC at CERN in Switzerland. Now he is co-spokesperson of the BESIII collaboration.
