Abstract:

The Brout-Englert-Higgs mechanism does not require the scalar sector to be as minimal as postulated in the SM. In particular, multi-Higgs-doublet models are a popular framework for bSM physics, generating rich phenomenology from very few assumptions. In this talk, I will give an overview of model-building opportunities which exist in the three-Higgs-doublet models and which go beyond not only the SM but also the 2HDM. I will highlight some recent results related to extra symmetries and their consequences, including an exotic form of CP possible in the 3HDM. Recently developed theoretical tools now allow for a systematic exploration of all phenomenologically distinct situations in the 3HDM.

Biography:

Igor Ivanov graduated from Novosibirsk State University (Russia) and got his PhD from Bonn University (Germany). After several research positions in Italy, Belgium, and Portugal, he recently joined the School of Physics and Astronomy, Sun Yat-sen University, Zhuhai, as professor. At present, his main research interests lie in models beyond the Standard Model which feature extended Higgs sectors, in particular multi-Higgs-doublet models.
