Search for model-independent heavy Higgs boson and low mass resonances with 4mu final state at ATLAS

Abstract:

The Standard Model (SM) contains electroweak and strong interactions. The search of new physics and new resonances should be based on the two interactions. This talk will introduce two works. One is related to electroweak interaction about searching for model-independent heavy Higgs boson with dim-6 operators, while the other is based on strong interaction about search for low mass resonances in four muons final state. Both analyses use 139 fb$^{-1}$ of $pp$ collision data at $\sqrt{s}=13~\text{TeV}$ collected by the ATLAS detectorThe first work contains phenomenological study and experimental analysis. We show that the same-sign dilepton final state of VH production channel has the best sensitivity and the $95\%$ confidence level exclusion on mass of heavy Higgs boson and dim-6 coupling parameters are set. The second work aims for searching new resonances and rare decays of bottomonium $\eta_b$ and $\chi_{b0}$ in $J/\psi J/\psi \rightarrow 4\mu$ final state. The upper limit on $\sigma(pp\rightarrow\eta_b/\chi_{b0}+X)\times\text{BR}(\eta_b/\chi_{b0}\rightarrow 2J/\psi)$ is provided.
