Description
Abstract

Planetary systems are ubiquitous in the Galaxy. However, the large diversity among different systems and planets therein is not well understood based on the planet formation theory, which is inspired by our Solar System. In this talk, l will briefly review some latest observational facts and the classical perspective of planet formation. l will highlight some dynamical processes that may have shaped architectures of the planetary systems as well as planetary morphologies and interior structures.

Biography

Shangfei Liu obtained his Ph.D. in astrophysics from Peking University in 2013. He then conducted postdoctoral research at the University of California, Santa Cruz (2013 – 2015) and Rice University (2015 – 2018). In 2018, he joined the faculty of Sun Yat-sen University in Zhuhai. He mainly uses computational simulations to study dynamic processes in astrophysics, especially regarding formation and evolution of the solar system and exoplanetary systems. In addition, he is one of the developers of the widely used open source N-body code REBOUND.
