Weak Lensing Cosmology and its Error Analysis

Abstract

Weak gravitational lensing is one of the most promising cosmological probes. It has the potential to constrain dark matter distribution properties up to ~1% and dark energy properties up to ~10% for the coming stage IV observations. However, similar to other observations, error analysis is crucial for weak lensing studies. We use state-of-the-art observations such as KiDS, Planck, DECaLS, and DESI to investigate the impact from systematics: intrinsic alignment of galaxies, redshift distribution, shear multiplicative bias, as well as statistical errors such as non-Gaussian covariances. Furthermore, as a preparation for our own CSST, we forecast how different statistical errors and systematical errors can affect our cosmological output.

Biography

Dr. Yao received his Ph.D. at the University of Texas at Dallas in 2018. He worked as a postdoc at Shanghai Jiao-Tong University till 2021, then at Shanghai Astronomical Observatory till now. His main research interests reside in the large-scale structure of the Universe, and weak gravitational lensing. He has worked with many state-of-the-art observations such as LSST, KiDS, Planck, DECaLS, DESI, and our own CSST and AliCPT.
