Recent LHCb results on baryonic B decays 20m

This talk is to cover the following recent LHCb results based on full or part of Runs1-2 data sets: first observation of $B^0\to p \bar p p \bar p$, and evidence of $B^0_s\to p \bar p p \bar p$; first observation of $B^+\to \bar\Lambda p \bar p p$, and study of threshold enhancement effects in the final state; first observation of $B^+\to \bar\Lambda p$, and measurement of its decay parameter; first evidence of FCNC decay of $B^+\to \bar\Lambda p \mu^+\mu^-$. The prospects of studying other baryonic decays, especially those with a final-state $\bar \Lambda p$ pair, will also be discussed.

Charm Chromo-EDM as a Probe of Top-quark FCNC interactions 20m

Electric dipole moments (EDMs) provide strong bounds on the CP structure of many New Physics (NP) scenarios. In this work, we study the charm Chromo-EDM (CEDM) within a new light scalar singlet with top-quark Flavour-Changing Neutral Current (FCNC) interactions. Such scalar singlet appears naturally in many well-motivated NP scenarios, such as the composite Higgs models. Unlike the Higgs boson in the Standard Model, it can induce large FCNCs in the top sector. Besides the CEDM, we also include the low-energy constraints from the $B_s \to \mu^+ \mu^-$ decay and the muon anomalous magnetic moment $(g-2)_\mu$. We also perform a detailed Monte-Carlo simulation of the channel $pp \to t S +j$ with $S \to \mu^+ \mu^-$ and $S \to b \bar b$, and investigate the LHC sensitivity to the $tcS$ couplings. For the CP-violating $tcS$ couplings $y_{R,L}^{ct}=|y_{R,L}^{ct}|e^{i\theta_{R,L}}$, it is found that the CEDM can provide bounds on the phase difference $\theta_L-\theta_R$, while the CP observables $\mathcal{A}_{\Delta\Gamma_s}^{\mu\mu}$ and $\mathcal{S}_{\mu\mu}$ of the $B_s \to \mu^+ \mu^-$ decay are sensitive to the phase $\theta_R$. Therefore, they are complementary to each other in probing the CP phases of the $tcS$ couplings.

Normalization of partial wave CP asymmetries in three-body decays of heavy hadrons 20m

CP violation in hadronic multi-body decays has been extensively studied, and the experimental breakthrough in the heayy baryon sector was made recently.
Partial-Wave CP Asymmetries (PWCPAs) in multi-body decays of heavy hadrons, which although provide us with more interference information, suffer from the
normalization problem, as is pointed out in this paper.
We propose a novel solution to this problem.
%We redefine the PWCPAs in such a way that they can be approximately normalized by a set of normalization factors.
We introduce a set of extra factors to rescale the PWCPAs to the proper sizes.
Instead of determining the set of factors according to the normalization requirement, we demand that all the PWCPAs have the same statistical errors.
%These factors are further determined based on reasonable guidelines.
In this way, we obtain a set of quasi-normalized PWCPAs, in the sense that they are close to the ideal normalized ones.
As an application, we perform an analysis of PWCPAs in the decay channel $B^\pm\to\pi^+\pi^-\pi^\pm$. We focus on the phase space region where the invariant mass of the $\pi^+\pi^-$ pair varies around the vector resonance $\rho^0(1450)$. Based on the data of the LHCb collaboration, the interference patterns among the resonances $\rho^0(1450)$, $f_2(1270)$, and $f_0(1500)$ and their contributions to the quasi-normalized PWCPAs are analyzed.
The analysis indicates that the quasi-normalized PWCPAs can avoid potential misleading or distorted results comparing with some other alternatively defined ones.

Progress of light hadron lightcone structures for heavy hadron decays on LQCD 20m

The lattice QCD computation of parton distributions within the framework of large momentum effective theory (LaMET) constitutes a first-principles approach to studying hadron structures. Building upon preceding studies on meson systems, we have developed and partly implemented lattice methodologies for calculating the leading twist LCDAs of light baryons under the LaMET formalism over the past few years. In this talk, we will introduce our series of works on the ab initio determination of leading-twist LCDAs of light baryons and present preliminary numerical results. We will discuss the complexities involved in lattice calculations of baryonic systems compared to mesonic systems and report some techniques developed and employed recently to achieve physical results for the more intricate baryonic systems, including special operator selections, the hybrid renormalization scheme, and Fourier inversion strategies.

Hyperon EDM at the J/ψ threshold 20m

CP violation (CPV) is one of the key ingredients for our understanding of the baryon asymmetry. Despite its observation in kaons, B and D mesons, as well as recently the neutral Lambda b baryon, CPV has not yet been observed in hyperons. Using the 10 billion J/ψ events accumulated so far at BESIII and the hyperonic decay, we discuss the prospect of CPV exploration at the BESIII and beyond such as the STCF.

On the equivalence of Flavor SU(3) analyses of B to PP decays 20m

We conduct an SU(3) analysis of $B\to PP$ decays based on reduced matrix elements (RMEs), with $P$ being a light pseudoscalar meson excluding $\eta^{(\prime)}$. We show that a complete basis for the $B\to PP$ decays consists of ten RMEs, where the three RMEs arise from the electroweak penguin operators $O_{7,8}$. In the Standard Model, the relevant Wilson coefficients are small and thus can be neglected. We further demonstrate the equivalence of the RME approach with the irreducible representation amplitude (IRA) and topological diagram amplitude (TDA) methods, and derive relations between the ten RME amplitudes and corresponding IRA/TDA amplitudes. These relations lay a foundation for consistent SU(3) analyses of heavy meson decays.

hyperon weak radiative decays in Light front approach 20m

Motivated by recent experimental data on $\Sigma^+\to p\gamma$ at BESIII, we investigate a class of hyperon weak radiative decays.
To estimate these processes, in our research, we employ a new type of light-front quark model with a three-quark picture for octet baryons.
In the three-quark picture, with the use of $SU(3)_f$ and spin symmetries, we present a general form of the light front wave function for each octet baryon.
By including contributions from the penguin diagram and W exchange diagram, we perform a complete calculation on the branching ratios ($Br$) and the asymmetry parameter ($\alpha$) for hyperon weak radiative decay processes.
Our results are helpful for discovering additional hyperon weak radiative decay processes in experimental facilities, and our research will promote the theoretical study of baryons.
