Abstract:
Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer is a large particle physics experiment on the International Space Station. AMS is conducting a unique study of Dark Matter, antimatter, and the origin of cosmic rays, as well as searching for new phenomena. After 16-year extensive construction and testing, AMS has been installed on the International Space Station since May 19th, 2011. In its continuous operation of nearly 10 years, AMS has collected over 170 billion cosmic rays. In this talk, the latest AMS results on the cosmic ray positrons, electrons, antiprotons, protons and nuclei will be presented. AMS results can not be explained by current cosmic ray models. The precision data of different types of cosmic rays simultaneously measured by AMS is providing unique inputs for developing new theory of cosmic ray origin, acceleration, and propagation.

Weiwei Xu obtained Ph.D degree from the Institute of High Energy Physics, CAS. After that, he conducted postdoctoral research at MIT and soon was promoted to Research Scientist. In June 2019, he came back to China, and now is a professor in Shandong University and acting as the executive director of the Particle Physics Center at Shandong Institute of Advanced Technology. He joined AMS experiment since 2011, and devoted the measurement of cosmic ray positrons, electrons, and antiprotons. He also developed a new reconstruction software for AMS electromagnetic calorimeter, which plays key role in the positron and electron measurements.
