      Today's focus:

      [CEPC Zvvy nTGC]:

      • cross-checked the fitting results with Danning: the 1D results look fine, while the 2D results still need theory discussion.
      • I have drafted the theoretical framework section of the paper.
      • discussed with Yuning and helped complete the CEPCSW environment setup and run the full simulation workflow successfully.

      Plans:

      • plan to finalize the systematics part by defining the signal and background uncertainties and implementing the corresponding nuisance parameters in the fit.
      • plan to draft the simulation section of the paper

      SiPM IV curve measurement

      • I-V curve measurement in dark condition results do not match the expected trends in the official manual or reference papers.
      • Feedback from Hamamatsu suggested the experiment environment might have light leakage.

      ECAL Thermal Analysis

      • Ongoing heat simulations for the ECAL system using Ansys fluent

      Plans:

      • redo the experiment using aluminum foil to ensure a sufficient dark condition and re-characterize the breakdown behavior.
      • finish the heat simulations

      Today's focus:

      DarkSHINE:

      • Baseline v1.6 analysis
        • The production of new samples has been completed, and the validation results for these samples look reasonable.
      • ECAL prototype
        • Discussed with USTC people about the progress of the electronics system design yesterday. All design options have now been finalized and the schematics have been drafted; next, they will start the PCB layout.

      PhD thesis:

      • Text writing progress: I have finished writing the main part of the thesis describing my work in DarkSHINE, and I am currently writing up my work in CEPC.

      Plans:

      DarkSHINE:

      • Baseline v1.6 analysis
        • Sensitivity analysis with BDT is ongoing. A preliminary result should be available next week.
        • Plan to optimize the digitization model in the DarkSHINE software framework, to make the model more closely match the response of the real detector..
      • ECAL prototype
        • Plan to complete the mechanical structure design of the prototype these days, and share it with USTC people , so that it can serve as a reference for their PCB layout

      PhD thesis:

      • It is possible to finish writing all the text for the main body of my works this week. Supplementing the content, polishing the figures and tables, and drafting background section are expected to start next week.

      Today's focus:

      [ssWW Analysis]:

      • mc23 samples downloaded using (pre-Baihong fix) Easyjet: Done
        • Only one file missing, to be discussed which tag to use/update.
        • Automatic macro working very well off-line (as far as I can tell). New update: If files were corrupted during a previous download, the new version of the macro automatically detect them and handles them. So it is even more care-free now.
      • New version of easyjet (post-Baihong fix), with the generation of the new mc23 files: Creation of the files on-going.

      [Hyy*]:

      • Analysis near the end, but I started helping out:
        • Danning: She gave me directions to help out. She recently just obtained fakes fractions, and wanted to recreate the legacy work on comparing mc samples m_lly invariant mass distribution with data, for the 9 categories defined for the anlaysis. So I created a python script to study this comparison using h004 mc samples (prompt lly and fakes [photons ; leptons]) and data. The plots I produces are not perfect yet, so I am waiting to see if Danning validates the many choices I made in the scripts (choice of mc files, coding of the selections, plotting normalisations, etc ..)

One of the best plot produced, for the m_lly invariant mass of the high pt merged ee category. To be validated by Danning.

      •
        • Contacted Laura yesterday. She gave me two items that are on-going, to think about. One of them needs the fakes to be more mature, but the other one is about background modelling. She was questionning the need to use "difficult" fit functions. And to understand why the spurious signal fails the other simpler background functions -> A bit of investigating needed here.

      Plans:

      • [ssWW] Need to download the entire the new mc23 files to produce the "final" reweighting plot, and together with Baihong mc20 work on the yield, present during the GM. I also got into contact with John, so we can start being more active in the group.
      • [Hyy*]: Continue working closely with Danning, and starting contributing to Laura's item(s) discussed yesterday. In particular for the latter I will have some documentation to read carefully before investigating the issue correctly.

    • 11:35 12:30

        Today’s focus:

        • Gain a detailed understanding of the basic structure and working principle of the ECAL in STCF through the CDR.
        • Test the energy and time resolution of electrons at different energies under background‑free conditions.(Codes still need improvement)

        Plans:

        • Use OSCAR to simulate the energy response of photons from 0.1 GeV to 3.5 GeV, and obtained the energy, time, and position resolution curves.
        • Start writing the graduation thesis.
