New directions EXploring the Unknown beyond the Standard Model (NEXUS 2026) is an annual in-person workshop dedicated to exploring the frontiers of physics beyond the Standard Model. Jointly organized by Beihang University, Nankai University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and the Tsung-Dao Lee Institute (TDLI) and supported by State Key Laboratory of Dark Matter Physics, the workshop brings together researchers and students to discuss recent developments in theoretical particle physics and cosmology. Topics cover a broad spectrum of particle physics and cosmology from theory to phenomenology and experiment, exploring diverse directions beyond the Standard Model.

This year’s workshop will be held over four days, from September 10 to September 13, 2026, at the Tsung-Dao Lee Institute in Shanghai. On-site registration will take place on September 9. The workshop provides an excellent opportunity for early-career researchers and graduate students to engage with leading experts in the field, present their work, and foster new collaborations. All talks will be given in person, and attendees are encouraged to participate to benefit from the dynamic and interactive format.

Please note that travel expenses will be the responsibility of each participant.

Proposed by the Nobel laureate Tsung-Dao Lee and with support and endorsement from governments and ministries at national and municipal levels, Tsung-Dao Lee Institute (TDLI) is a basic research institute established at Shanghai Jiao Tong University in November 2016, aiming to build itself as a world-leading science institute.

Resonating with Professor Lee’s vision, the Institute focuses on the most fundamental science questions and conducts cutting-edge research in physics and astronomy in an effort to shed light on the relationship between the maximum and the minimum in the universe, and the most fundamental and profound laws of interaction in the nature.
