Description

Abstract:

During my ATLAS researches, I met some interesting statistics problems. In this talk, I will present my solutions based on some concrete examples. It covers the constraint and impact of systematical uncertainties, new Boosted-Decision-Tree algorithm, D-optimality procedure in precision measurements and improved asymptotic formulae. In addition, I will show other advanced statistics techniques used in the LHC experiments.

Biography:

I finished my PhD project in the BESIII experiment (2010-2015). Then I moved to the ATLAS experiment as a PostDoc in Tsinghua University (2015-2017) and a research fellow in Warwick University (2018-2020). Now I am a research faculty in Nanjing University. My research topics mainly cover top-quark physics, Higgs properties measurement and new resonances search. I'm interested in developing new analysis techniques to solve the issues in physics researches.
