Description

The possibility of a first order electroweak phase transition (FOEWPT) in BSM scenarios is a science driver for future collider & gravitational wave probes. It is generally accepted that a FOEWPT must be “strong” to be relevant and interesting, yet the meaning of “strong” is open to wide (mis-) interpretation. I clarify the meaning of a “strong” FOEWT as applied to gravitational waves and baryogenesis and discuss a new reformulation of the criterion for a strong FOEWPT as applied to baryogenesis.
